    The California Scrub Jay is a year-round resident.  It is in the family of Corvid's (Corvidae) which inclue Crows, Ravens, Magpies, which all are extremely intelegent birds.  The Western Scrub Jay consumes nuts such as acorns, Insects such as moths, and invertibrates such as worms.
