Bishop pine in our grounds.  This is a very variable pine in shape, growth and even resin chemistry.  Its ancestry is still in contention.  It is known to grow within 12 miles or so of the Pacific shore, although it can appear distorted by the sea wind, or as dwarfish little tree or a straight growth of more that 100 feet.  It is very hard to stereotype.  We think this is a southern member of the family.
